The 2012 NISOA Convention/Annual General Meeting was held on July 21, 2012 in Rosemont, Illinois. Here are the highlights from the event:
- Instructional clinics were presented discussing the difference between the collegiate and professional game (Dr. Joe Machnik), coaches’ perspective on officiating (Rob Kehoe from NSCAA), High Schools rules changes and interpretations (Mark Koski from NFHSAA), impact of social media (Mike Oliver and John Puglisi), managing the team area (S. John Hangenstein), and the NCAA soccer rules changes (Ken Andres, NCAA Secretary Rules Editor).
- Denver, Colorado (July 18-21, 2013) and Buffalo, New York (July 17-20, 2014) were confirmed as future NISOA Convention/Annual General Meeting hosting sites.
- Improvements and enhancements to the NISOA and NCAA Central Hubs on ArbiterSports.com were announced. These enhancements include ejection reporting, fighting ejection reporting, referee assault reporting, NCAA soccer rules testing, National Referee registration and testing, and annual NCAA referee registration.
- Election results for the 2013-2014 terms were announced as follows:
- President – Todd Abraham (IL).
- Vice President – George Wescott (NJ).
- Secretary – John Puglisi (NY).
- Region I Representative – Jim Triplett (MA).
- Region II Representative – John Puglisi (NY).
- Region III Representative – Dave Steiner (PA).
- Region IV Representative – Dan Lukash (MD).
- Region V Representative – Bob Fischer (VA).
- Region VI Representative – Ermanno Rossi (FL).
- Region VII Representative – John Kipp (OH).
- Region VIII Representative – Greg Cole (IL).
- Region IX Representative – Diana Esquivel (TX).
- Region X Representative – Grier Cooper (AZ).
- Region XI Representative – Federico Ruiz (CO).
- Dave Steiner (Region III) and Federico Ruiz (Region XI) were confirmed as Regional Representatives to fill the unexpired terms of their predecessors.
- No increase in the NISOA National Dues and Fees structure for the 2013 .
- Green was approved as an optional uniform shirt color.
- A proposal to provide supplemental health insurance for NISOA members who are injured during soccer activities was discussed. Since the current dues structure can not accommodate the cost associated with this additional coverage, further study and surveys of the membership will occur before action is taken.
