NISOA Executive Board is continuing to monitor the situation with the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) throughout our nation and around the world. While this is an evolving situation, we want you to know that we take the current situation seriously and are following developments very closely. Due to recent developments with the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and guidance from the health agencies, the NISOA Executive Board has canceled all nationally sponsored, face to face educational events between now and May 1, 2020.
The cancellation includes the following events
- NISOA Referee Summit in Clemson, SC.
- NISOA Practical Field Training Clinic in Columbus, OH.
- NISOA/ECSR National Joint Clinic in Orlando, FL.
Additionally, local chapters are to refrain from meeting face to face during this period. No certificates of liability insurance will be issued for facility usage for the duration of this period. If a certificate of liability insurance was previously issued for a NISOA sponsored event scheduled to occur during this time, it will be null and void, effective immediately.
In the interim, we are ramping up efforts to provide distance learning alternatives so as to ensure all of our members are fully and properly prepared for the upcoming fall season and properly trained on any NCAA rules changes being implemented for the 2020 season.
We would like to thank our NISOA Family for your ongoing support of NISOA as we manage our programming given the current health and travel environment. The safety and security of our organization is, and always will be, our highest priority!
Please note, all policies regarding NISOA sponsored activities are subject to change based on the ongoing review of circumstances. Further details regarding the impact of coronavirus on NISOA programming will continue to be shared via official NISOA communications channels.

Best Practices for Health
There is currently no vaccine to prevent the Coronavirus. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed. Everyday preventive actions should be taken:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
- Follow the CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask
- CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
- Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
