Jane James receives Jeff James’ Hall of Fame ring.

Jeff James (July 11,1962-April 13, 2019), NISOA National Referee from Northern New York ISOA was posthumously inducted into the New York State Soccer Hall of Fame on November 16, 2019 at the New York State Boys High School State Championships. His collegiate soccer officiating career started in 1999 and included over 450 matches, of which 70 of them were NCAA postseason assignments, culminating with being appointed as the referee for 2 NJCAA Championship matches. During his career, Jeff officiated across all divisions of NCAA. Many of his assignments came from working in the ACC, American East, Big East, Ivy League, MAAC, and the Patriot League. He served as the past President of the New York State ISOA and the local Northern New York ISOA chapter.

Jeff’s local High School Soccer section is honoring Jeff’s memory this year and yearly after by selecting a boys and girls team to receive the Jeff James Sportsmanship Award.

  1. It is a fitting tribute to an individual who was an integral part of the success of the New York State Public High School Boys Soccer Championship year in and year out. Jeff annually gave his time and energy to insure that the games were played in a safe environment and on an equal playing field. We are sincerely sorry for his family and thank the family for allowing Jeff to have been such an important part of our lives over the last 26 years.
