NISOA Executive Director

After a nationwide search, NISOA President, George Wescott has appointed Ms. Julie Fabsik – Swarts as NISOA Executive Director. Regarding the appointment, George said, “Please join me in welcoming Julie Fabsik – Swarts as NISOA’s new Executive Director. Julie brings with her many years of increasingly responsible experience in working with non-profit organizations. We are looking forward to working with her, and adding a new level of diversity and perspective to our Executive Board.

Raised in New York City, Julie comes from the athletics and nonprofit world. She has worked for such prestigious organizations as The Pennsylvania State University, the US Olympic Committee, Girl Scouts of San Diego and Imperial Counties, the Seattle Organizing Committee of the Goodwill Games, the Purple Heart Foundation, Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, University of Pennsylvania, and the American College. She was the Executive Director of an Olympic sport and ran a successful branch of a YMCA in Philadelphia. She has served on numerous nonprofit Board of Directors including Philadelphia Committee on City Policy, Women in Development and the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges, PA.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from San Diego State University and a Master’s of Science in Sports Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Additionally, Julie is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), a Chartered Advisor of Philanthropy from the American College, and a certified nonprofit executive from LaSalle University.

She is currently the full-time Executive Director for a nonprofit association for Higher Education and a fundraising consultant for the nonprofit Donorpath. In addition to her extensive experience as a nonprofit leader and fundraiser, Julie is a national rated women’s gymnastics judge for USA Gymnastics and the NCAA. She is also certified to judge collegiate tumbling and acrobatics competitions. She is a certified Master Scuba Diver and with her husband, Mike of 23 years, run an apple farm outside of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Julie has consistently demonstrated the kind of leadership and vision throughout her career that will greatly benefit NISOA and keep us at the forefront of college soccer officiating. Welcome aboard, Julie.
