Ryan Cigich, NCAA Coordinator of Soccer Officiating

Ryan Cigich has been named the NCAA national coordinator of officiating for men’s and women’s soccer, replacing Don Wilbur, who had served in that capacity for the past two years.

Cigich has officiated nearly 2,000 youth, amateur and professional matches since 1986, including more than 700 at the collegiate level. He also has experience as a referee instructor, evaluator and administrator for the Major Indoor Soccer League, US Soccer, US Youth Soccer and the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association

“We are thrilled to have Ryan join us in this important position for NCAA soccer,” said Matt Wolfert, chair of the Division I Women’s Soccer Committee and the associate director of athletics at Ball State University. “He has tremendous experience and will do a great job working with coaches and officials across the country to ensure the best officials are working our championships in all three divisions of men’s and women’s soccer.”

Cigich, who earned a marketing degree from Northeastern State (Okla.) University and a master’s degree from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, currently resides in Chicago, where he works as a worldwide account manager for FedEx.

“I am very excited about joining the NCAA team and look forward to making improvements to our processes, communication and training from an officiating perspective, which goes hand in hand in creating the best competition environment for the student-athletes,” said Cigich.

One Response to “NCAA names Ryan Cigich National Coordinator of Soccer Officiating”

  1. Mr. Cigich,
I read and viewed the instructional power point and videos icw Tactical fouls, and Advantage, and found them to be very interesting. I was wondering if these can be purchased on a DVD or flash drive. I was unable to view the video associated with the power point, and it would be of great help to me if I had that option. I want to use these as a instructional presentation to our High School referees.

    Thank You
