Ken (Kenny) Mather, 76, forever youthful, passionate and radiating joy, passed away on November 20, 2020 at his home in the company of his loving family. While Ken was born in Thatcham, Royal County of Berkshire, England, he became a fixture for Big Ten, Big East, Conference USA, MCC, MAC, Mid Con, and Missouri Valley, as well as youth leagues where he helped shape the future of young ones and the game he so loved. Ken was inducted into the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame in 2003 and the NISOA Soccer Hall of Fame in 2015. A professional mechanical engineer by trade, Ken was an important part of the soccer referee development programs in Indiana. Ken lived life with passion and love. He touched so many and never met a stranger. He fought cancer with faith, hope, and dignity.

On and off the pitch, his words forever resonate like the way he lived life, “Play on, play on!”

Rest in Peace, Ken.

  1. Kenny was an incredible individual!

He gave me one of my first opportunities to work on the big stage in the Big East and at Notre Dame. I am truly indebted to his unwavering support toward my development and growth as a referee.

The entire NISOA family mourns the loss of Kenny Mather.

  2. Kenny was a great guy and a great NISOA man. I am a better person for having known him.
