Wes Caouette – Mid South (TN) ISOA

On behalf of the selection committee, we are proud to announce Wes Caouette from Mid-South Tennessee ISOA as the week 2 winner of the 2019 Terry Vaughn NISOA Referee of the Week presented by Official Sports.

Wes resides in Collierville, Tennessee; a suburb located in the Memphis metropolitan area. He was nominated by Chapter President, Region V Area Coordinator, and Conference Assignor, Mark Herrington for his outstanding referee performance in a men’s NAIA match between Johnson & Wales University (FL) vs. #16 University of Mobile (AL)

In Mark’s words; “Wes took charge of 3 matches last week, highlighted by the Johnson & Wales at Mobile Men’s NAIA match. Wes and crew did an outstanding job keeping an extremely spirited and competitive match under control. In the first half, Wes had a sequence of a reckless foul, advantage, goal, and then issued a delayed caution. In the second half, Wes exhibited great teamwork with his crew in deescalating a mass confrontation and issuing the appropriate misconduct. Wes had a very high work rate from start to finish along with good foul recognition including a penalty kick decision where he was in the most optimal position to identify the push and give credibility for the decision. While we are only 3 weeks into the season, Wes has received very positive evaluations and high remarks from both coaches and his peers.”

Wes has been a member of NISOA since 2013 and regularly receives assignments in the AAC, Gulf South, SAA, SEC, and the SWAC. He is registered as a “Regional Referee” under the 2020 US Soccer Referee Grading System.

Off the field, Wes is active in his local chapter as a member of the recruitment committee and contributes to the development of new officials by participating in the RefereeInMemphis Mentor Program

Congratulations Wes!
