One of NISOA goals identified in our strategic planning process is to provide our members with meaningful visibility for their work on and off the field. As such, we will be recognizing our highest performing members throughout the country regardless of including but not limited to gender, age, ethnicity, religious views, or years of service. Here’s how it will work:
Who: All NISOA referees who are current year members in good standing with their local chapter.
When: Weekly (based on qualified nominations) starting September 3rd and ending November 5th.
Why: In order to maximize exposure for our highest performing NISOA referees based on exemplary on-field performance and off-field conduct.
How: Candidates can be nominated on a weekly basis by current National Referee Program members (National Referees, National Assessors, Regional Assessors), certified NISOA assignors, and/or local chapter leadership (through the chapter contact). This recognition is not limited to referees in the National Referee Program. Nominations must include a reason why he/she should be recognized with the selected nominee providing a picture (headshot or referee action photo) for publication.
A NISOA member will be selected each week by a committee, chaired by the NISOA Director of Operations, Lance VanHaitsma. The selection will be based on the merit of the nomination. Only those officials nominated within the weekly period are eligible for Referee of the Week recognition. There is no limit on how many times a NISOA official can be nominated within the collegiate season. The nomination form is here as well as the forms directory. Nominations must be submitted by the weekly deadline
